Robby King
Attorney
About
Robby is a former prosecutor with 20 years of experience in the Gwinnett and Alcovy Judicial Circuits, including Walton and Newton Counties. During his career as an Assistant District Attorney, Robby prosecuted virtually every type of criminal case, from murder and other serious violent felonies to drug offenses, domestic violence, white-collar crimes, misdemeanors, traffic offenses, and juvenile matters. He has tried more than 100 cases and successfully handled criminal appeals before both the Georgia Court of Appeals and Supreme Court of Georgia.
Robby’s experience extends well beyond the courtroom. As a prosecutor, he supervised a Superior Court trial team of attorneys, investigators, and support personnel and was entrusted with training new prosecutors and law enforcement officers in criminal law and procedure. He frequently lectured at the Gwinnett County Police Academy and worked closely with law enforcement agencies on criminal investigations, charging decisions, search warrants, and trial preparation.
That experience now provides Robby with a valuable perspective as a criminal defense attorney. Having spent two decades on the prosecution side of criminal cases, he understands how prosecutors evaluate evidence, make charging and plea decisions, prepare witnesses, and build cases for trial. He also understands where weaknesses can develop in an investigation or prosecution—and how those weaknesses can affect the defense of a case.
In 2023, Robby entered private practice to put that experience to work for people facing some of the most consequential situations of their lives. He believes effective representation requires more than knowledge of the law. Clients deserve an attorney who is accessible, candid, prepared, and willing to take the time to understand both the case and the person involved. Whether a matter can be resolved through negotiation or requires a fight in the courtroom, Robby draws on his extensive trial experience to protect his clients’ rights and pursue the best available resolution.
Robby earned his Juris Doctor from Georgia State University College of Law in 2003. He graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2000 with a degree in Computer Engineering. His technical background continues to influence his approach to the practice of law, particularly in cases involving digital evidence and emerging technology. Robby has a particular interest in the increasingly important role that cell phones, social media, electronic data, DNA, and other forensic evidence play in modern criminal investigations and prosecutions.
Robby is a member of the Gwinnett County Bar Association, Walton County Bar Association, Newton County Bar Association, and Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is admitted to practice in Georgia’s trial courts, the Georgia Court of Appeals, and the Supreme Court of Georgia. In 2025, Robby was selected by The National Trial Lawyers for its Top 100 recognition for criminal defense attorneys in Georgia.
Outside the office, Robby enjoys spending time with his family and is actively involved in his children’s activities, including baseball, golf, ballet, and volleyball.
